Do Not Lose Heart - Part II

"We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed...Therefore we do not lose heart" (2 Corinthians 4:8,16 NKJV).
Paul was like a valiant boxer. He was often knocked down but he was never knocked out. He kept getting up and coming back for more. I never knew my grandfather Knowles (he was killed fighting a fire before I was born), but I am told that he used to say something like this: It is no shame to get knocked down but it is a shame not to get up.
Do you feel like you are being squeezed in today? Are you a bit perplexed about what to do? Do not lose heart! Notice how the positive overrides the negative in our verse for today. Hard-pressed but not crushed; perplexed but not in despair; persecuted but not forsaken; struck down but not destroyed. What a good attitude for us to have! Each day we are assaulted by negative things - but the positive power of Jesus Christ living within will help us to overcome everything life throws at us. We may be down, but we are not out! "Therefore do not lose heart!"
Prayer: Loving Father, we come to You today for refuge and shelter in the time of storm. We find security, rest, and relief when we draw near to You. Thank You for the indwelling gift of Your Son and Your Spirit. Through Christ we pray.
