No Creed But Christ

"And Simon Peter answered and said, 'Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God'" (Matthew 16:16 NAS).
Peter's confession of Christ is called the Good Confession or the Great Confession. It is a confession that I made in 1958 when I was about 12 years old at Pine Lake Bible Camp near Eldora, Iowa. Millions of martyrs and legions yet living have made the Good Confession.
Many years ago a preacher named Walter Scott said that Matthew 16:16 was "the Golden Oracle" (an oracle is a sure and reliable guide). He stated, "The Bible contains one truth which is the sun to which all other Christian truths are planets in a spiritual solar system." For Scott and the rest of us that truth is, "Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God." We have no creed but Christ. It is the foundation on which the church was built and is the basis of our Christian faith.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of Your Only Begotten Son. We thank You that He lives today in our hearts by faith. May we confess none or nothing else as Lord. Through Christ we pray.
