The Mark of the Best

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:34,35 NIV).
I am continually amazed how many professing Christians are more interested in the Mark of the Beast than they are the Mark of the Best. Jesus said that mutual love among believers would mark them as the best - His disciples, but often fellow believers become contentious with one another over various aspects of biblical prophecy.
Notice that we are to love one another as Christ loved the disciples. That is our model. How did He love them? He loved them selflessly (He even washed their feet). He loved them sacrificially (He even laid down His life for them). He loved them with understanding (realizing they were mere mortals who would make mistakes). He loved them enduringly (to the very end, 13:1). We may debate if the Mark of the Beast is 666 but there is no debate that the Mark of the Best is 133435 (John 13:34,35).
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your enduring love for us and modeled in Your Son Jesus Christ. May His shining example inspire us today to love each other as He loved His disciples, that all might now that we are His disciples on earth today. Through Christ we pray.
