A Triple Plea!

"O earth, earth, earth,
Hear the word of the LORD!" (Jeremiah 22:29 NKJV).
You've heard of a triple play in baseball, but here is a triple plea in the Bible. When God says something once, that should be enough. When God says something twice (like "Verily, verily" or "Listen, listen"), He is really trying to get our attention. What when God utters a triple plea, well, we had really better listen!
God in heaven is speaking to us on earth. Here, again, is the triple plea: O earth, earth, earth! Yes, Lord. We hear You. What is it you wish? Like a clap of thunder from the great beyond comes the answer: Hear the word of the Lord! But do we? Do we hear it each day in our quiet time? Do we hear it in our small group meetings? Do we hear it from our pulpits each Sunday? Earthlings need a word from heaven. Saints and sinners alike need a word from the Lord. CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox News can never give us what we need most. Hear the word of the Lord!
Prayer: Sovereign Lord, thank You for this triple plea. We need to be reminded that we need to hear and heed Your Word. Make us hungry for it, make us seek it with all our heart, make us willing to hear and heed the words of life that come from You, our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend! Through Christ we pray.
