The Great Imitation

"Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ" (1 Corinthians 11:1 NKJV).
Who would have the audacity to say, "Imitate me" and leave it at that? Only someone fairly full of himself or herself! But our friend Paul did not just say, "Imitate me." He added a qualifier..."Just as I also imitate Christ." That makes all the difference in this apostolic instruction and our desire to fulfill it.
I have learned much in life merely by observation. When I see an older. mature Christian living in the spirit and practice of Jesus Christ, that registers with me. I want to be more like them as they have demonstrated that they are like Christ. Conversely, I have seen and heard some church folks who didn't remotely resemble their Redeemer. If we have accepted Christ then we should accept our responsible to imitate Him in everything we think, say, and do.
Praise & Prayer: More like the Master I would live and grow; more of His love to others I would show/More self-denial, like His in Galilee, more like the Master I long to ever be/Take Thou my heart, I would be Thine alone; take Thou my heart and make it all Thine own/Purge me from sin, O Lord, I now implore, Wash me and keep me Thine forevermore! (Charles H. Gabriel)
