What's Your Hurry?

"Do not be in a hurry to leave the king's presence" (Ecc. 8:3 NIV).
Do you remember the episode on the Andy Griffith show where a visiting preacher came to church one Sunday and preached a sermon called "What's Your Hurry?" Andy's family and friends turned that sermon on its head and busied themselves until they were plumb worn out!
I wonder why we are in such a hurry to leave the King's presence? I am talking about the King of kings and Lord of lords right now. In our daily devotions, why are we in a hurry to leave the King's presence? In our Sunday worship, why are we in such a hurry to vacate the premises and beat the Baptists to the restaurant? Would we treat the President that way if we had an audience with him? We are loathe to leave those we love. Is it possible that we are in a hurry to leave the King's presence because our love for Christ has grown cold? His love is unfailing and never ending.
Song: I'd stay in the garden with Him, Tho' the night around me be falling (C. Austin Miles).
Prayer: Dear Lord, forgive us when we are in a hurry to leave Your presence. Create withing us a holy desire to "stay in the garden with You."
