More Than Conquerors!

"Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us" (Romans 8:37 NKJV).
How is it possible to be more than a conqeror? My name (Victor) is from the Latin victus which means "to conquer." One who conquers is a victor. The Greek word for conquer is nikao and means "to overcome." In our text Paul uses hupernikao – to be more than a conqueror. We are hyper-conquerors...through Christ!
The last five words in our text are the key to being a conqueror. The Christ Who loved us – and loves us still – is the One Who gives us victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil. In a tremendous burst of praise, Paul cries, "Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Cor. 15:57). Calvary love calls us to surrender sin, indeed, conquer sin and death and hell. Christ conquered sin at the cross and only when we cling to the cross will we be "more than conquerors."
Song: The Lord Jesus died my salvation to win. He went in my stead to Calvary and bled. Redemption impels me to give up all sin - I'll put Jesus first in my life! (James DeForest Murch)
