Born to Trouble

"For affliction does not come from the dust, nor does trouble spring from the ground; yet man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward" (Job 5:6,7 NKJV).

Trouble is as enevitable as the sparks from a campfire flying upward. It is bound to happen to all of us. We do not live in a trouble-free world and the reason is sin. When Adam and Eve sinned, it introduced all kinds of trouple for all of us – thorns, thistles, pain in childbirth, et al.

How we respond to trouble is important. The next verse says, "But as for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause..." (v. 8). God is greater than all our troubles and problems put together. I remember visiting a widow several years ago. Her house was rather shabby but I always felt welcome there. Nellie had an old-fashioned piece of art on one wall, hanging by a piece of string. On the cardboard were lettered these words: "God is greater than any problem I have." Do you have troubles today? Then commit your cause to the One who is greater than all your problems put together.

Prayer: Father, we come to You today because You have proven Yourself faithful to us over and over again. To Whom else would we go? You have the answers to all our questions and the solutions to all our problems. Give us wisdom today through Christ we pray.
