"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit" (Romans 8:1 NKJV).

In view of what Paul has taught thus far in the book of Romans, i.e., that God is the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus (3:26), we can be confidant of our current standing in Christ Jesus. Note that Paul says NOW, not in the sweet by and by. And then he says there is NO condemnation to those who are IN Christ Jesus. These are short but powerful words.

God does not condemn the person who is in Christ Jesus, His Beloved Son, who took our condemnation on the cross. "I stood condemned to die but Jesus freely took my place" says the good old Stamps-Baxter song "He Bore It All." I can't improve on that. "Condemnation" is a judicial term. The verdict is in. Actually, it came in nearly 2000 years ago when Christ paid the penalty for our sins. If you are IN Christ today, then thank God that there is NOW NO condemnation.

Song: My precious Savior suffered pain and agony, He broke the bonds of sin and set the captive free, He bore it all that I might live/He bore it all that I might in His presence live. He bore it all that I might see His shining face. He freely bore it all that I with Him might live; I stood condemned to die but Jesus freely took my place, He bore it all that I might live. J. R. Baxter, Jr.

Vic...I told our new church plant in Troy a few weeks ago that this was one of my favorite passages. Thanks for reminding me of one of my favorite songs from my youth, He Bore It All! Brings back memories of Singspirations and Rallies in buildings with no air-conditioning. Great memories!
