A Courtesy Call

"Now when Job's three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him...they made an appointment together to come and mourn with him, and to comfort him" (Job 2:11 NKJV).
I've been reading the Bible for many years and never noticed this verse before! Job's friends (Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, not exactly household names) did something quite commendable. They made an appointment together to go and see Job, to mourn with him and try to comfort him. Wasn't that a nice thing to do?
When I call on someone, I like to call by appointment. In my last located ministry I would have my secretary call ahead of time and make an appointment for my visit so they would be mentally prepared when I arrived. Sometimes I would take my wife or an elder with me. Who is there that you know today that needs a "courtesy call"? Ask someone to go with you and then go and visit that person and be a blessing to them.
Prayer: Father, we thank You for the privilege of visiting others in Your name. Move in us so that we might make a "courtesy call" on someone very soon. Through Christ we pray.
