A Fitting Tribute

"For Mordecai the Jew was second to King Ahasuerus, and was great among the Jews and well received by the multitude of his brethren, seeking the good of his people and speaking peace to all his countrymen" (Esther 10:3 NKJV).

All's well that ends well. So concludes the story of Esther and Mordecai and the marvelous deliverance of their countrymen. And what a fantastic four-fold tribute was his! (1) Great among the Jews. (2) Well received by the multitude of his brethren. (3) Seeking the good of his people. (4) Speaking peace to all his countrymen.

Gentle reader, I hope the same can be said of us some day regarding our service in the kingdom of Christ. Not that we should seek to be great or well received by our brethren but that we should be so regarded because of our labors for Christ. In order for this to come true we must seek the good of others more than our own good. And we should be known for speaking peace to our brethren. Make it your goal today to join "The Order of Mordecai."

Prayer: Our Father in Heaven, we take heart today at the example of one of Your servants, Mordecai. Create within us a desire to emulate this good man in being a seeker of good and a speaker of peace all our days. Through Christ we pray.
