It Takes a Thankful Man

"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name" (Psalm 100:4 NKJV).
Today is Thanksgiving and it is also my birthday. I thought I would take a few lines and talk about thankfulness today. I remember a song the Kingston Trio sang when I was in high school, "It takes a worrried man to sing a worried song." Well, I say that it takes a thankful man to sing a thankful song. And I am a thankful man today.
Last Sunday afternoon I was in Fountain City, Indiana, and visited the gravesites of my mother's birth parents and also her adoptive parents. I'm thankful I was born into a good Christian home. I'm thankful I grew up in the 50s and had good teachers and friends. I'm thankful for my seminary training, that I married a wonderful Christian woman, and that we are blessed with 6 children and 10 grandchildren. I'm thankful for folks like you who read this Bible blog each day. Most of all, I'm thankful for what God has done for me in Christ. Without Him I would be nothing. Take a moment right now and sing a thankful song!
Song/Prayer: For Thy church that evermore lifteth holy hands above/Off'ring up on every shore Her pure sacrifice of love/Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise. (Folliot S. Pierpoint)
