When Two Lovers Kiss

"Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed" (Psalm 85:10 NKJV).

Everybody likes a good romance. Here are four players in a divine novel: mercy and truth and righteousness and peace. Isn't it interesting that two of the names are names of girls (Mercy and Peace)?

Is there room in the same house (including the church house!) for mercy and truth? Evidently it is so. Can righteousness and peace be so intimate that they even kiss? Looks like it to me. Some folks don't think mercy and truth are compatible, but the Bible says otherwise. Some would deny that righteousness and peace could co-exist but God says they can. "Pursue peace with all men, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14). The faithful Christian will follow both!

Prayer: Loving Father, thank You for joining together these wonderful "lovers" - Mercy and Truth and Peace and Righteousness. Thank you for the sanctity of their relationship and their kiss and may what You have joined together let no man put asunder!

      Vic,

Our pastor has been speaking on the book of James and yesterday he spoke on speaking truth with an irenic spirit, and without that delicate balance we cannot impact the lost for Christ.

Seems to meld with this devotion!!
