What Moves You?

"But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy..." (Acts 20:24 NKJV).
Paul was on his way to Jerusalem, not knowing his fate (v. 22). Every city he visited on the way to Jerusalem had a message waiting for him — from the Holy Spirit Himself! "Paul - chains and tribulations await you in Jerusalem." After hearing that same message city after city, Paul could still say - "But none of these things move me!"
What moves you to serve the Lord? To continue to serve the Lord even when the night has been long, the struggles of the mind have been fierce, and you dread some of what lies ahead today? Take heart from Paul. Why could he say, "None of these things move me?" Because he did not consider his life dear to himself. He was determined to finish the race with joy. He knew that his life paled in comparison with the eternal life that awaited him. Our struggles here are but for a moment. Heaven beckons us to press on with joy!
Song: Oft-times the day seems long, our trials hard to bear/We're tempted to complain, to murmur and despair/But Christ will soon appear to catch His Bride away, All tears forever over in God's eternal day/It will be worth it all when we see Jesus, life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ/One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase, so bravely run the race till we see Christ!
