The Dead Zone

"A man who wanders from the way of understanding will rest in the assembly of the dead" (Proverbs 21:16 NKJV).

The Assembly of the Dead! Yikes! This is one assembly I surely want to forsake! I love it when the church assembles to receive the Word, praise the Lord, and encourage one another but this is one assembly I want to have nothing to do with! Talk about a "dead zone!"

But who is it that will be found in "the assembly of the dead"? It is not a true worshipper of the Lord. It is not the person who is living for Jesus, growing in grace, and serving others in the name of Christ. No, the writer is quite clear here. "Members" in the "congregation" of "the assembly of the dead" are those who have wandered from the way of understanding. It is so easy to wander and the next thing you know, you are off the beaten path, lost, dead! Here is a great companion verse for today. "Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away" (Hebrews 2:1). Don't drift aimlessly and wind up in THE DEAD ZONE!

Prayer: Father of mercies, how good You are to make known to us "the way of understanding." We rededicate ourselves this moment to giving heed to the things we have heard from You, lest we drift and become a part of the dead zone!
