A Worshiper's Influence

"And he [Paul] departed from there and entered the house
of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was
next door to the synagogue. Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue,
believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the
Corinithians, hearing, believed and were baptized" (Acts 18:7,8 NKJV).
After
his rejection by the Jews in Corinth, Paul moved "next door" to the
home of Justus. This man was a worshipper of God and his house just
happened to be right next to the synagogue. Is it possible that
Crispus, the ruler of the synagoge, heard or observed Justus at
worship? In any event, he and his household became Christians. This
opened the door to the conversion of many Corinthians (amazing when you
think of how carnal Corinth was). And note the divine order of their
conversion: (1) Hearing, (2), believing, (3) being baptized. But I'd
like to think that the worship life of Justus had something to do with
this as well.
