Compelled by the Spirit

"When Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ" (Acts 18:5 NKJV).

Have you ever felt compelled to say something or do something? Sometimes we are compelled by our own spirit and at other times we are compelled by the Holy Spirit. Paul sensed the Spirit urging him to proclaim Jesus as the Christ to the Jews in Corinth.

Corinth was a cosmopolitan city and very corrupt. It was the home of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. One thousand temple prostitutes entered the city each night to ply their trade. I am sure that fact did not escape Paul, but what the Spirit compelled him to do was to proclaim Jesus as the Christ. The only hope of the world is Jesus. I believe the Spirit would still compell us to proclaim that message.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for filling us with Your Holy Spirit and may we always follow His prompting whenever we are compelled to preach Jesus as the Christ.
