Helping the Enemy

"Then Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned safely to
his house in Jerusalem. And Jehu...went out to meet him, and said to
King Jehoshaphat, 'Should you help the wicked and love those who hate
the Lord?'" (2 Chronicles 19:1,2 NKJV).
Jehoshaphat had formed
an alliance with Ahab, a truly wicked king. They went into battle
together and Ahab was killed. When Jehoshaphat returned from battle, he
was met with this message spoken by the prophet Jehu – "Should you help
the wicked and love those who hate the Lord?"
Now that is a good
question for us to ponder this day! Take movies and videos produced in
Hollywood. Precious few exalt Christ or Christianity. Should we "help
the wicked" by boosting box office sales with our attendance? There is
little love for Jesus in Hollywood? Should we "love those who hate the
Lord" – mocking, defaming, even taking His name in vain? Jehu closed
his message to the king with these words, "Behave courageously, and the
Lord will be with the good" (v. 11). It's time for us to do the same.
Prayer/Song: Lord
Jesus, I long to be perfectly whole; I want Thee forever to live in my
soul; break down every idol, cast out every foe; now wash me and I
shall be whiter than snow. (James Nicholson)
