Fill 'er up! This entry was posted on 08-29-2006 and is filed under Devotional. "And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit" (Acts 13:52 NKJV).
Remember when you used to pull into a service station and say to the attendant, "Fill 'er up!"? This was before $3 a gallon gasoline and when they still pumped your gas, checked your oil, and cleaned your windshield! It is good to have a full tank. It is also good to be full of joy and the Holy Spirit, like the new Christians in Antioch. If we are not filled with joy, we will be full of something else. If we are not filled with the Holy Spirit, we will be full with some other kind of spirit. Our "filling station" today is God's Spirit-inspired Word. That's why daily Bible study and weekly worship is so vital to our spiritual lives. Fill 'er up! Prayer: Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way! Hold o'er my being absolute sway. Fill with Thy Spirit till all shall see, Christ only, always, living in me! (Adelaide A. Pollard) |
