"Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church" (Acts 12:5 NKJV).

Herod was on the prowl. James had already been beheaded and now it was Peter's turn to pay the price. What was Peter's response? He was sleeping so soundly an angel had to kick him in the ribs to awaken him!

I love the response of the church - "but constant prayer was offered to God for him." Prayer that is constant can bring great results. And notice that v. 12 states that "many" were gathered together praying for Peter. This was not some meagerly attended prayer meeting. Peter was delivered because of their constant prayer. Who might be delivered today if many of us would gather and continue to pray for their release from (you fill in the blank)?

Prayer: Dear God, create in us a desire to be constant in prayer for those who need deliverance!
