GIVING GOD THE GLORY

"Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him [Herod], because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died. But the word of God grew and multiplied" (Acts 12:23,24 NKJV).
Herod was a pompous person. Vanity was his long suit. He was buried in it. One day he gave a great oration. The masses responded with a great ovation. But because he failed go give God glory, he was put on "permanent probation!" Josephus says he suffered for five days with great intestinal pain before he finally died.
But in contrast with the demise of Herod, the Word of God "grew and multiplied." Nothing can stop the progress of God's Word. Let this be a lesson to all politicians, dictators, and would-be glory seekers. Men roll up and die but the Word of God rolls on. Let us never fail to give God the glory for any good thing accomplished in our lives.
