ARGUING WITH GOD!

"And I heard a voice saying to me, 'Rise, Peter; kill and eat.' But I said, 'Not so, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.' But the voice answered me again from heaven, "What God has cleansed you must not call common'" (Acts 11:8,9 NKJV).
Who in the world would have the audacity to argue with God and actually say, "Not so, Lord!"? Only Peter! In recounting to the apostles and brethren the amazing story of Cornelius' conversion, Peter here admits that he had actually said these three words to God.
It's easy to fault Peter. But what about us? We may not have verbalized our dissent with God, but have we ever stubbornly refused to do what He asks us to do in His Word? Is our silent refusal to yield to His will just our way of saying, "Not so, Lord!"? Happily, Peter later confessed, "Who was I that I could withstand God?" Let us be as humble and teachable as was he.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, forgive us when we dare to question Your will, Your way, and Your Word! May we never stand in Your way again!
