WHY GOD CHOSE DAVID

"Moreover He rejected the tent of Joseph, and did not choose the tribe of Ephraim, but chose the tribe of Judah...He also chose David His servant...So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart" (Psal, 78:67,68,72 NKJV).

The Creator of the universe chose a solitary shepherd to govern His people! He rejected the tent of Joseph and did not choose Ephraim. Rather, He opted for the tribe of Judah and from them, David. Notice that He calls David "His servant."

God selects people for divine service who have been faithful in mundane service. Watching sheep sounds like a tedious task to most of us, but David learned life principles that would serve him well in the future. Most of all, he had integrity of heart. Since the Bible describes him as "a man after God's own heart," it is no wonder why God chose David, rather than others, to shepherd His people.

Prayer: Savior, like a shepherd lead us, much we need Thy tender care; in thy pleasant pastures feed us, for our use Thy folds prepare" (Dorothy A. Thrupp).
